I applaud

I applaud our troops
For fighting a war
That will never end

To know what freedom is
To want other people
To have it too

Leaving your families
To live in hell
Knowing death is there
To greet you
Every morning and night

The compassion I see
In your eyes
When a child is homeless or lost
From the destruction of terrorism

You fight because the freedom
Is worth the risk
For all people
On this earth
To have a taste

Be brave enough
To wear the uniform
To honor in your heart

Spare the freedom
That God has given us
To do what is right
